Your first hour in Steel Fighters

Your first hour is three moves: fill six slots, spend Cash on the slot you are missing, then carry Scrap back so the robot you already own gets stronger. Do those in order and you will not need a second robot to make progress.

Fill the six slots

Build Robot panel listing six owned parts and the six empty body slots

Six slots, one part each. The counter reads 0 of 6 until every slot is filled.

The Craft Station opens a Build Robot panel with six empty slots: head, torso, left arm, right arm, left leg and right leg. The counter reads 0 of 6 until every slot holds a part, and the BUILD ROBOT button stays inactive until then.

New players usually own a small starter set. The panel we captured showed six owned parts, all level 1, all marked Common: a head, a torso, both arms and both legs. If your set is incomplete, the missing slot is the first thing to buy.

Each card shows three numbers. The heart is HP, the crossed blades are damage, and the shield is defence. Heads and legs in our sample carried a percentage stat instead of defence. Read the numbers on the card, not the colour of the name: a level 2 part can be worse than a level 1 part in the slot you need.

Two currencies, two jobs

This is the mistake that costs the most early Cash.

What you have What it buys Where
Cash Parts, by slot, at the lever wall Lever wall next to the Craft Station
Scrap Levels for the robot you already own Anywhere you can open the upgrade panel

Cash does not level anything, and Scrap does not buy parts. If you are short of a body slot, you are short of Cash. If your robot is built but weak, you are short of Scrap.

A Robot's level is capped, and the cap moves with rebirth: the 1 to 2 panel we captured shows the cap going from 20 to 30. While you are under the cap, levelling is the cheapest way to get stronger.

What you get for free

The official listing still advertises three free things:

  • Like the game and join the group for a free robot.
  • Favourite the game for free robot parts.
  • Play with friends for +50% Cash.

Those are the developer's own claims on the store page. We did not redeem them ourselves, so treat the reward size as unconfirmed, but the buttons are real and cost nothing.

The first session, in order

  1. Open the Craft Station and count the slots you can fill.
  2. Buy the missing slot at the lever wall. Do not buy a second copy of a slot you already filled.
  3. Press BUILD ROBOT and check the robot's HP and damage in the Robots panel.
  4. Run Arena floors for Cash. Stop when a floor keeps killing you.
  5. Collect Scrap in the Junkyard, carry it back, and spend it on levels until the robot hits the cap.
  6. Open the Rebirth panel and read the requirement line before you press anything.

When to think about rebirth

A recorded first run aimed at floor 30 for its first rebirth, and the same player later pressed rebirth on a floor he had not beaten. Reaching a floor and beating it are different conditions, so use the requirement line on your own panel rather than a number from a video.

Two signals say you are ready to look: your robot is at the level cap, and the next floor is failing on damage rather than on a missing part.

If you are stuck in the first hour

  • BUILD ROBOT will not activate: a slot is empty. Count the six slots, not the parts you own.
  • You cannot find the code machine: it stands beside the Events board near a Junkyard entry. Codes do not need the machine to be unlocked.
  • You bought a duplicate part: it is not wasted. It sits in My Parts and can be used on a second robot later, but it does not fill a slot you already filled.
  • Your Cash is not going up: check whether you are spending it on parts you already have, or whether you are looking at Scrap, which is the other counter.

What we could not verify

  • The full part pool. The official description says 100+ robots; we have eleven cards read off screen, not the pool.
  • Whether the free rewards still pay out and in what size.
  • The exact requirement for the first rebirth on a fresh account.

Those gaps change wording, not the order of the steps above.
