Steel Fighters trials, room by room

Clearing Easy unlocks Medium, and clearing Medium unlocks Hard. Paying bypasses the clear, not the difficulty: 49 Robux opens Medium and 99 opens Hard and Medium together, but neither makes your robot strong enough to win.

Inside a Trial you move between rooms, clear what is in them, open what drops, and finish the run. Paid chests are a separate decision from the unlock.

Three ways into the same difficulty

Route What it costs What it requires
Clear the previous tier Nothing A robot that can finish the run
Unlock Medium 49 Robux Nothing else
Unlock Hard 99 Robux Opens Medium at the same time

If your goal is Hard, do not buy 49 and then 99. The 99 item already includes Medium. That is the single most common double purchase in this menu.

The room loop

A Trial is a chain of rooms, not a floor climb. You enter, clear a room, take what it gives, and continue. The end of the chain is where the final chest sits.

Auto Trial automates exactly that movement: it walks your character room to room, clears them, opens chests, and starts the next run. It does not improve your odds. If your robot cannot clear a room, Auto Trial will sit in it.

Update 1 fixed Auto Trial moving backwards after a clear. A player still reported on 24 October that it sometimes stops moving after completing a room, so treat automation as a convenience that occasionally needs a nudge.

What the paid chests cost, and what they promise

Difficulty Room chest Guarantee Final chest Guarantee
Easy 39 Robux Rare or better 99 Robux Epic
Medium 59 Robux Rare or better 149 Robux Epic
Hard 99 Robux Rare or better 199 Robux Epic

The guarantee is the reason to buy these at all: a room chest guarantees Rare or above, and the final chest guarantees Epic. What is inside beyond the rarity floor is not published.

Failed a run? What Loot Back returns

Loot Back is a paid recovery: it returns the items you had already collected in that unfinished Trial.

Difficulty Loot Back
Easy 29 Robux
Medium 59 Robux
Hard 99 Robux

Judge it on what was actually in the run. A 29 Robux recovery on a nearly empty Easy run is worse than replaying Easy for free. On a Hard run with an Epic already collected, 99 is cheap. The shop does not tell you the value, so look at your own run before paying.

Decide the route before you spend

  1. Pick the highest difficulty you can already clear.
  2. If the next tier is unlocked naturally by clearing it, do that first; the clear is free.
  3. Only buy an unlock when the clear is the thing you cannot do, and buy the highest one you need (99 includes Medium).
  4. Decide chests per run before you enter, not while looking at the reward screen.
  5. Keep a Loot Back budget only if you tend to die late in a run.

If a Trial feels impossible

Trials scale with difficulty, and the Trial Shop exists for this: damage potions and consumables are sold specifically for Trial runs. A damage potion doubles robot damage for 15 minutes for 39 Robux, which is often cheaper than buying two chests you cannot open.

If the room is not the problem and the robot is simply too weak, the answer is in the build: compare parts in the slot that is dying first.

What we could not verify

  • Room counts, time limits and enemy stats per difficulty.
  • The full chest pool and whether duplicates are possible.
  • Whether the 29/59/99 Loot Back prices change with the size of the run.
